Search for the hero inside your pocket

So after a three and a half year journey which entailed building a PC, learning how to use it, hooking up to the net and learning to speak another language, getting pissed off every time my PC crashed or needed something reinstalling, building a home studio, learning how to use my DAW and other pieces of mind boggling software, learning how to play the guitar,keyboard & agogo! Writing/composing songs then humiliating myself at singing lessons just so I can reveal my deepest darkest thoughts and secrets, and lets not forget my sponsorship deal with Kenco, my uncanny resemblance to the walking dead and my forgotten social skills, Its finally here my first gig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah have I mentioned the trials & tribulations I endured on my mission to recruit the members of my band The Fm. Fear not I'll spare you the details, let's just leave it at....

Now when I say first gig I must first point out that following the signed/major band model (you gotta think big cos no ones going to do it for you) we had a crafty warm up gig last weekend, we played a little 45min warm up set at a local custom show. I say 45mins the first 2 songs felt like 4 hours and the last 7 songs felt like 5 minutes. But all in all it went great, once I had finnaly realized that I wasn't gonna score any valium, I manned up, I stopped praying to the big white ceramic alter & ventured out from the toilets to face the music!

Like I said the first two songs couldn't pass quick enough but as I picked up my guitar for our third number and reached inside the pocket of my trousers for a plectrum I felt something. Yep you got it ........ MY BALLS, Funkos power to the rescue lets have a party the rest of the set will go down in history as one of them. I thoroughly enjoyed it, what was I fussing about? I'm Funkos and were The Fm and it's time to Modulate some Frequencys. We had a wicked nite, we went down really well and even got a booking from a guy who ran a club in Sussex!

So what is my point i hear you ask , well my point is this if you put your mind to it you can achieve anything, 'Funkos that's an age old cliche bordering on stilton abuse' I hear you cry, well it is but it's a true one. Three and a half years ago I couldn't play guitar, i couldn't operate a PC and i defo couldn't sing, not that i can now but at least now I get to the end of my songs before people start laughing.
Basically you got to search for the hero inside, er!

Joking aside if you wanna do something and your really passionate about it (except for stuff like serial killing), FUCK everyone else and what they think, the piss takers FUCK em their not your friends, the small minded people who don't understand that being creative is a great thing FUCK em and those that would rather get in from work and die in front of their TV's for the rest of their life FUCK em.

So our first Official gig, Where? When? Why! my mum keeps asking.

It's on, Sat June 18th 2011 @ Lydd Club Day, were playing in the beer tent on the Rype from 7.30-8.30pm.

Club day is a great day there's another band on after us (tbc), you got the fair, the fete, the floats and all the other activities that go on throughout the day.
